Comparison

GC2 vs SkyTrak ST MAX

A side-by-side look at how the Foresight Sports GC2 and SkyTrak ST MAX compare on specs, accuracy, room requirements, and price. No hype — just the parts of the decision a buyer actually weighs.

Bottom line

Four dollars apart on the sticker and about $1,000 apart over five years of course play. The ST MAX is the cheaper simulator; the GC2 is the cheaper way into Foresight's camera hardware.

The SkyTrak ST MAX ($1,695) and Foresight's relaunched GC2 ($1,699) arrive at the same price, and both measure the ball optically at impact rather than estimating it from flight, so both work in short rooms. The differences are what they measure and what they cost to use. SkyTrak's free, no-membership level includes ball and club data on the range, and course play is Core: Foresight at $299.99 a year. The GC2 measures ball speed, launch, spin and carry — Foresight lists no club data for the 2026 unit — and course play runs through a Foresight+ membership plus a Course Pass, about $494 a year at the entry tier.

Over five years with course play that is about $3,195 for the ST MAX against about $4,170 for the GC2. Neither is on GSPro's official supported list: SkyTrak owners reach GSPro through a free community bridge, and we found no sanctioned path for the GC2.

The GC2's case is Foresight's optics at an entry price, indoors and outdoors on the range. If you want to play courses at home for the least money, the ST MAX is the better buy. If your use is mostly practice and gapping and Foresight's measurement is the point, the GC2 earns a look — but price out the Foresight+ tier you would actually use before you buy, because that is where the two diverge.

Which to pick, by buyer

Want to play courses at home for the least money
SkyTrak ST MAX. The same sticker, about $1,000 less over five years of course play, club data on the free level, and native Mac and iOS apps.
Mostly practice and gapping, and want Foresight's measurement
Foresight GC2. Camera-measured ball data from Foresight at $1,699, indoors and on the range. Check which Foresight+ tier you would need first — that decides its real cost.
GSPro is the plan
Neither, officially. The Square Golf Omni ($1,599) is on GSPro's official list; the ST MAX needs a community bridge and the GC2 has no sanctioned path.

Who each one is better for

Honest persona fit, side by side.

Better for SkyTrak ST MAX

  • Cost-Effective Buyer

$1,695 at most retailers — $300 under the SkyTrak+ closeout it replaces, with the same sensor, current-model support and a longer software runway. The one cheaper way into the same hardware is PlayBetter's SkyTrak+ at $1,195 while its residual stock lasts.

  • Family Setup

Polished SkyTrak software is forgiving for non-technical household members. Ambidextrous play possible with a unit move; native Mac and iOS apps don't lock you to a single OS.

  • Performance Seeker

GOLFTEC speed training module adds genuine practice value. Same accuracy as the SkyTrak+ in a current-gen package.

Both fit

  • Recreational Player
  • Space-Constrained
