SkyTrak Membership Cost (2026): Essential, Core, Elite Tiers Explained

SkyTrak's membership structure has four paid tiers above the free, no-membership level that ships with the hardware. SkyTrak gives that free level no official name — older guides, ours included, called it "Basic" or the "Game Improvement Plan," and neither name is current. Essential at $99.99/yr is the entry add-on. Core at $249.99/yr (Foresight course pack) or $299.99/yr (Trackman course pack) is the middle tier most serious SkyTrak owners eventually consider, and the first one that includes course play. Elite at $499.99/yr carries both course packs.

All four tiers came down in price in 2026. If you are comparing against figures from an earlier guide — Essential at $129.99, Core at $299.99 and $349.99, Elite at $599.99 — those are stale, and every five-year total built on them was overstated. Separately, SkyTrak is running a limited-time 10% discount as of August 2026, which prices the tiers at $90, $225, $270, and $450 for the first term. The list prices are what renewals return to, so the math below is anchored to list.

This article lays out what each tier actually unlocks, where Core sits against alternatives like GSPro and the perpetual-license platforms, and which tier most SkyTrak owners actually need.

What Each Tier Actually Includes

No Membership (Always Included — $0)

Ships with SkyTrak hardware. No subscription, no expiration. SkyTrak gives this level no official name on its membership page, so treat "Basic" and "Game Improvement Plan" as retired labels rather than current tiers. It covers:

• Ball data (ball speed, launch angle, carry, total) and club data
• SkyTrak Driving Range (3D virtual range)
• Session shot tracking and history
• Native SkyTrak app on Mac, iOS, and Windows

What it does not cover is course play. This level is a range, not a golf course. Plenty of SkyTrak owners stay here permanently and never subscribe — but most of them are running GSPro or E6 Connect for rounds, not playing courses inside the SkyTrak app.

Essential — $99.99/yr

Adds to the free level:

Still no course play. Essential is the practice-tooling tier, and this is the single most misreported thing about SkyTrak's pricing — several guides, and earlier versions of this page, listed Essential as the cheap way into virtual rounds. It isn't, at any price.

Best for: SkyTrak owners who practice with intent but play their rounds in GSPro or E6.

Core: Foresight — $299.99/yr

The first tier with course play, and the one SkyTrak labels "Best Value." Adds to Essential:

• Course play inside the SkyTrak app
• Foresight course pack — roughly 47 courses. SkyTrak's own page is inconsistent here, listing 47 in the Core row and 46 in the Elite row, so treat the exact count as approximate
• Native Mac and iOS support continues

Best for: SkyTrak owners who want course play and a substantial library without setting up GSPro on a separate PC.

Core: Trackman — $299.99/yr

The same course-play step on the other ecosystem, and the tier SkyTrak labels "Most Popular." Adds to Essential:

• Course play inside the SkyTrak app
• Trackman course pack — 50 premium courses
• TPS analytics
• Native Mac and iOS support continues

Best for: SkyTrak owners who want Trackman-branded courses and analytics without buying Trackman hardware.

Elite — $599.99/yr

Adds to Core:

• Both course packs — the Foresight and Trackman libraries together, rather than choosing one
• Most-developed shot analytics
• Tournament and competition features

Best for: SkyTrak owners who play virtual courses weekly and don't want to pick an ecosystem. Note the narrower gap since the 2026 repricing: Elite is $200 a year above Core: Trackman and $250 above Core: Foresight, where it used to be $250 and $300.

5-Year Cost: All Tiers Compared

For context: the SkyTrak+ hardware itself is $1,995 (closeout). A 5-year Elite membership still costs more than the launch monitor, but by $504.95 rather than the $1,000 the old pricing implied.

SkyTrak Subscription vs Alternatives

The honest comparison isn't between SkyTrak tiers — it's against alternatives.

What "GSPro" actually means on SkyTrak hardware

Worth being precise about, because it is the alternative this whole comparison turns on and we used to describe it wrongly. GSPro publishes a list of 31 officially supported launch monitors. No SkyTrak model appears on it, SkyTrak's own site does not claim GSPro compatibility, and GSPro's FAQ tells SkyTrak owners to go ask SkyTrak for it. The route that exists is OpenSkyPlus 2 — a free community bridge that injects into the SkyTrak Windows desktop app and relays shot data to GSPro over GSPro's Open API. GSPro's Open API genuinely is documented and mature, which is why a bridge is possible at all, but that is a fact about GSPro's generic integration surface, not evidence of a SkyTrak partnership.

In practice it works, and it has worked for a long time: owners report multi-year stable use, the known annoyance is ghost shots over WiFi that a wired USB-C connection reduces without eliminating, and the bridge is actively maintained because so many people run this setup. The honest tradeoffs are that it is Windows-only, it is sanctioned by neither vendor, it broke wholesale once already when SkyTrak shipped a major app version, and support when it breaks comes from a Discord rather than a company. The cost is unaffected — you select GSPro's "Other / Open API" SKU at the same $250/yr.

It is also worth knowing that this was never official and is not trending that way. There was no falling-out and nothing was withdrawn; GSPro simply never listed SkyTrak, and the gap has widened since SkyTrak launched its own Course Play in 2024 and added Trackman and Foresight course libraries under it in 2025. GSPro now competes with a product SkyTrak sells. Plan on the bridge staying a community project.

For PC-comfortable owners: the cost argument came back. It had genuinely evaporated when Core: Foresight was $249.99 — $1,249.95 against GSPro's $1,250 over five years, within a nickel. SkyTrak's 2026 increase to $299.99 reopened it: Core: Foresight is now $1,499.95 over five years, so GSPro is $249.95 cheaper, and $499.95 cheaper than Core: Trackman. GSPro also beats Core on platform depth. The catch is unchanged — GSPro needs a Windows PC with a discrete GPU, which costs far more than the gap. A perpetual license is the route that still saves real money: E6 APEX from $450 is recovered inside two years of Core, Creative Golf at $500 inside three, and then both cost nothing. The SkyTrak Core membership's main advantage remains that it doesn't require a Windows PC — though E6 Connect Home at $1,000 perpetual covers the non-Windows case too.

For Mac/iPad-only owners: SkyTrak Core: Foresight is the cleanest path, but not the only one. E6 Connect's Home tier — $1,000 perpetual, 27 courses — runs on iPad as well as Windows, so it is the one buy-once route to course play that doesn't require adding a PC. Against the new Core pricing it draws level partway through year four ($899.97 of Core payments after three years, $1,199.96 after four) and costs nothing after that — a year sooner than it did at the old $249.99 rate. Creative Golf and E6 APEX are the other perpetual options that support SkyTrak, and both are Windows-only. Awesome Golf, the cheapest perpetual license in the category, does not support SkyTrak hardware at all.

For owners who'd otherwise stay on the free level: Stay there, as long as you understand you're staying on a driving range. The included software is genuinely usable for practice, and it does give you club data as well as ball data; it is not virtual golf.

When Core Is Worth $250/yr

Plain answer: when you'd actually use it.

• You're on Mac or iPad and don't want to build a Windows sim PC
• You want polished course play without configuring GSPro
• You play virtual courses regularly — at least weekly, ideally more
• You value the SkyTrak ecosystem integration (data continuity within the SkyTrak app)

For these buyers, Core delivers the right product at a fair price, and the 2026 repricing made that easier to say than it was.

When Core Is Not Worth $250/yr

Equally plain:

• You already have or will build a Windows sim PC — GSPro at $250/yr is now the same money with far more depth, as long as you're comfortable reaching it through the community bridge
• You play virtual courses rarely — stay on the free level and accept the range, or buy a perpetual license once (E6 APEX from $450, Creative Golf $500) if you have a Windows PC
• You want Trackman analytics specifically — buy a Trackman launch monitor directly; Core: Trackman is a bundled rental of someone else's data ecosystem
• You're cost-effective minded — over five years the membership runs $1,250–$2,500 against $1,995 of hardware. Core: Foresight lands at about five-eighths of what the launch monitor cost and Core: Trackman at about three-quarters; Elite costs about $505 more than the hardware

For these buyers, the structurally better answer is GSPro on a budget PC — accepting the community bridge as the price of admission — or a perpetual license like E6 APEX or Creative Golf on that same PC, with SkyTrak eligibility confirmed first.

What About Cancellation?

Cancel anytime via your SkyTrak account. After cancellation, you drop back to the free, no-membership level (always included). The hardware still works, the SkyTrak app still functions, but course play, the Core/Elite course library, and the advanced features lock out. Resubscribe later at the same list rate; no penalty, no setup fee.

This makes Core a low-commitment trial. Subscribe for a year. If you use it regularly, renew. If not, drop back to the free level, or move to a perpetual license if you have a Windows PC to run it on.
