Ernest Sports

Tour Plus 2.0

$1,000

Ernest Sports' camera-and-radar unit: two high-speed infrared cameras and four 3D Doppler radar sensors, reading 20 data points including measured spin, spin axis and club delivery (path, face angle, angle of attack, dynamic loft). It sits on the mat with the ball 12 inches in front of it, and runs Ernest's ES Golf app for practice. Course play is E6 Connect, on a Windows PC or an iPad. A trial is in the box; after that it is Ernest's five-course pack at $250 once, or an E6 subscription from $300 a year. GSPro does not list any Ernest Sports unit, so this is an E6-only simulator. $999.99 is a sale price against a $1,795 list, on Ernest's own site and at Indoor Golf Outlet, with no end date given. The comparison to make is the Square Golf Home at $699.99, which also measures spin and club data and connects to GSPro and Awesome Golf as well as E6. Built for indoor use. Indoor Golf Outlet's listing, citing the manual, describes an outdoor mode for direct sun that drops launch direction and spin axis. Keep at least 10 ft between the unit and the screen. One-year warranty.

Who this is for

Honest match per persona.

Good for

  • Recreational Player

Measured spin and club data for under $1,000 while the sale runs, and E6 Connect plays on an iPad, so a casual setup does not need a gaming PC. Ernest's $250 five-course pack is the cheapest way to keep playing after the trial.

Not for

  • Cost-Effective Buyer

The Square Golf Home measures the same kinds of data for $699.99 and reaches GSPro and Awesome Golf as well as E6. Even at the $999.99 sale price this is not the value pick.

  • Performance Seeker

One simulator platform, E6 Connect, and no GSPro. A serious practice room wants a unit the main simulator makers all list.

  • Showroom

A portable floor unit at the entry end of the market. It does not anchor a premium room.

  • Space-Constrained

Ernest wants at least 10 ft between the unit and the screen, plus room behind the ball to swing.
